Preserving every bit of 1920’s character and respecting the atmosphere of what very well may be the most treasured street in town were top priorities when the owner, founder of architecture firm JZA+D and former designer for the legendary Michael Graves, doubled the size of his family’s Moore Street home. The rear expansion, sprinkled with modern elements, added functionality, improved flow and ushered in loads of sunshine, particularly upstairs via a dramatically scaled skylight. Now, the breakfast area spills out to a brick patio and peeks into a large family room with custom storage wall. The cheerful kitchen was designed for a working pastry chef and comes outfitted with commercial-sized refrigeration, double ovens and an extra deep sink. A library serves as a bridge to the original living room with a view of Princeton High’s iconic tower. Here, and in the large dining room, original details are on full display, including built-ins and French doors that echo the shape of peaked archways. A total of 6 bedrooms include a top floor suite with Juliet balcony, the main suite with a walk-in closet and a first floor suite of airy proportions. This combination of architectural detail, historic character, modern usability and unbeatable location is simply unheard of!
